Happy Valentine's Day! I have a special gift for you. Read on. . .
It may not surprise you to know that I love Valentine's Day. Everything about it makes my romance-writer's heart do the happy dance.
My husband and I met in the late '90s. Long before Match.com or eHarmony, we met in an AOL chat room...
The release of California Girls is only three weeks away, and there are some open spots on the Review Crew. Keep reading!
I couldn't be more excited to get this book into your hands (with a dash of nerves thrown in.) This is a standalone women's fiction novel about three sisters who are dumped the same week, and how they each deal with the fallout in very different ways. Cosmopolitan Magazine featured California Girls as a book you should read in February, and hey—don't you do everything Cosmo says you should do?
My first book of 2019 isn’t a new one—it’s the mass market paperback reissue of Secrets of the Tulip Sisters—and it’s out today! If you missed this book when it first came out in hardcover, or if you borrowed it from your library and would like to have it for your personal collection, now’s your chance.
When I was first discussing the Super Giveaway with the team at Harlequin, we were trying to decide what prize my readers would most like to win. The answer we came up with was "More Books!" The purpose of the giveaway is to build awareness about California Girls, which comes out on February 26. And the prize is an advanced copy of The Summer of Sunshine and Margot, which doesn't come out until the end of June! Wouldn't you looooooove to be one of the 25 winners to get your hands on that book a few months early?
Whew! The crazy, hectic holidays are behind us. I adore the Christmas season, but I also treasure the days immediately afterward, when my world goes quiet and I have time to relax. There's nothing quite as cozy as leaning back with your feet up, and a cat purring in your lap. Fuzzy slippers optional. I thought this might be a good time to remind you about some of the goodies available on the FREEBIES page inside the Members Only area at SusanMallery.com.
I hope you're enjoying the holiday season and are looking forward to lots of time with the people you love. During this season when many of us get rushed and harried, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed, so I encourage you to schedule quiet time to reflect and hey, maybe read a good book.
I have four advanced copies of California Girls to give away!
As you know, I hold a lot of contests. In fact, later in this email, I'll announce my annual brass Christmas ornament giveaway—with 300 winners! Even so, I'm always looking for ways that I can do something nice for all my readers. And wow, thanks to the work of my amazing webmaster Shelley, I think you're going to love my latest gift. I am so very proud to present the new SAVE YOUR BOOK LIST feature!
All of my characters are special to me, but there are a precious few that I simply can't let go. While writing When We Found Home, I fell in love with Keira, the twelve-year-old who was abandoned by her mother, orphaned, sent to foster care, then rescued by an older brother she'd never met. (No spoilers! That’s all backstory that happened before the story starts.) Except it didn't feel like a rescue to her. It felt like her world was being turned upside-down again. The new family formed a loving bond by the end of the book, but I wanted more. I had to know that Keira was going to be happy. So I pushed myself to create room in my schedule to write a story for Keira. Better yet, I wrote it during the Christmas season so I could immerse myself in the holiday spirit.
I can’t tell you how much it has meant to hear from readers who are loving NOT QUITE OVER YOU, my latest Happily Inc romance. My heart is filled with gratitude and love. My books celebrate love and family and friendship. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to spend my life spinning stories that in some small way, I hope, make the world a happier place to live. Because of you, NOT QUITE OVER YOU is a bestseller!!!! #4 on the New York Times bestsellers list for combined print and ebook fiction, and #10 on the USA TODAY list, which tracks all books on a single list. I’m happy and overwhelmed.
We romance readers are voracious—and I love that about us! As a group, we're always looking for the next great read, a story that will carry us away from our daily worries and transport us into a world of pure emotion. Not Quite Over You is available now, and I think Silver and Drew's bumpy, passionate, humorous journey to love may be just the escape you're looking for.
Not Quite Over You is right around the corner—October 23—and we have some open slots on the Review Crew. Even if you've tried out before and you haven't made it, don't give up! It's free to try out, and it's absolutely worth the effort. If your name comes up in the random drawing, then it's up to you to keep your spot by meeting the deadlines for review. You could get all of my new books for free for as long as the Review Crew continues (more than five years so far).
The response to Why Not Tonight has been tremendous! In fact, Why Not Tonight has debuted at #6 on the New York Times bestsellers list for combined print and ebook fiction!!! Equally exciting, it’s #13 on the USA Today bestsellers list, which tracks fiction and nonfiction on a single list—and it’s the number one mass market paperback on that list! Thank you, thank you, thank you, my wonderful readers!!!
Why Not Tonight is out today! Happy book birthday to us all!!!
This book is dedicated to all you girls who wear glasses, and I have a special giveaway just for you, which I'll tell you about in a moment. I'm thrilled that Natalie is wearing her trademark glasses on the cover of Why Not Tonight.
No, that subject line is not a typo! On September 18, Why Not Tonight comes out, and this Happily Inc romance includes a visit to the small town's sister city, Fool's Gold. Ronan Mitchell, the last of the Mitchell brothers, will return home to resolve matters with the woman he thought was his mother—until he learned he was the product of his father's affair. So she's not his mom, his brothers are not his full brothers, his twin is not his twin. Ronan's been struggling with his feelings about this ever since he found out.
It's almost time to return to Happily Inc! Why Not Tonight comes out on September 18, and I have open slots on the Review Crew. My 200 Review Crew members get each of my new books for free, and if they post two reviews before the deadline, they keep their spot for the next Review Crew. It's just that easy!
In my summer release, When We Found Home, the Carlesso family of Seattle owns and operates a luxury mail-order food catalog, so I've created a lovely cookbook with delicious Italian-ish recipes inspired by the book. And the best part is, it's absolutely free! The When We Found Home Cooking cookbook is my gift to you. The cookbook has full-color photos of every recipe, including:
Picture me, writing alone in my office for months at a time (alongside my mostly sleeping pets, who hang out with me all day). Just me, the critters, and a keyboard. Every day I slipped deep into the world of When We Found Home. I felt what the characters felt. I laughed when they did something funny, growled when they acted like idiots.
When We Found Home is out today in hardcover, ebook, and audio! In my life, I've moved so often that I've discovered "home" is more than a structure. It's a feeling, the place where we're most comfortable, our most authentic selves. The sense of home comes with us no matter where we go, as long as the family is together.
It's hard to believe it's July already. It really is true what they say—the days are long, but the years are short. July is my birthday month. I don't do a big party or lots of presents, but I do try to do something nice for myself every year on my birthday. I hope you do that for yourself, too. I think it's a great time to pause and reflect on all the blessings in our lives.
I have two advance copies of When We Found Home, so I did a random drawing to choose two lucky members of my mailing list. Since you’re on my mailing list, you were automatically entered. And the winners are… (email addresses disguised)…
My next book, When We Found Home, will be out in less than a month! I'm so excited to take you on this emotional journey. At its heart, When We Found Home is both a romance and the story of three half-siblings who didn't find out about each other until after their father passed away. Malcolm, the eldest, is a CEO who is used to being in control, so he feels completely out of his element when his two younger sisters move into the family home with all their messy emotions. But he's about to meet a woman who will open his heart.
Often, readers ask me to recommend books, and I'm always hesitant because many of my friends are writers, and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by forgetting to mention them. But every once in a while, I throw caution to the wind to tell you about a very special book—such as By Invitation Only by the fabulous Dorothea Benton Frank. Lots of juicy feels!
My next book, When We Found Home is all about rediscovering family and finding where you truly belong. Now, Harlequin is giving you the opportunity to uncover your own past with a chance to win one of five Ancestry DNA kits. I've tried it, and now it’s your turn. (I'll share my results in a Facebook Live video on release day—July 10, exactly two months from today!)
